MLB Game Worn Jerseys of the Double Knit Era (1970-2007)

A Complete Reference Guide on CD-R

(Formerly titled: Major League Baseball Jersey Style and Lettering Guide: The Double Knit Era Collectors’ Reference)

This massive guide on CD has been assembled for collectors and hobbyists, showing photographic details of every team’s uniform jerseys going back to the beginning of the Double Knit Era.

This new edition for 2007 chronicles every detail change for every Major League Baseball uniform jersey going back over thirty five years, and includes detailed information not found anywhere else. Whether you are a collector checking authenticity, a dealer ensuring the correct details of what you are buying or selling, or just a hobbyist with a passion to see “one of every style”, this is the most detailed source on the topic that exists today.

Offered as a full color “Reference Book on CD”, the Guide is over 1000 pages long, each one detailing a different uniform style, team patches worn, and correct uniform lettering. It contains over 5000 photographs of game worn, period correct uniform jerseys.

So What's In It?

MLB Game Worn Jerseys of the Double-Knit Era (1970-2007) is divided into 35 on-screen chapters, and is fully indexed to make finding things easy.

  • One chapter for each of the 30 teams (plus one for the Montreal Expos) in the Major Leagues, covering every variation of game jersey, alternate jersey and batting practice (BP) Jersey worn by the team since the start of the 1970s. It shows trim changes, whether names on back are used, if nameplates are used, what patches are on the sleeves, who the official manufacturer was for the team for most years, the colors of the lettering and examples of representative team tagging.
  • A chapter detailing what to look for when collecting; tips to spot a fake, a fabrication or a recreation.
  • A chapter dedicated to all the sleeve patches worn by the teams, for Post-Season Play, All Star Games and MLB Anniversaries and MLB Memorials.
  • A chapter showing how to read manufacturer tagging to learn exactly in what date-range a jersey was manufactured.
  • A chapter highlighting and showing examples of all of the many dozens of variations of typestyles used for player numbers and names during the Double Knit Era.

Note: This title is separate from the jersey reference guide.

typestyleThis resource CD has been compiled for the serious collector or restorer of game worn MLB uniforms, needing graphic-designer-level access to the period-correct typestyles used for player name and numbers.

The CD includes individual .PDF and Adobe Illustrator (.ai) files for all the common and obsolete typestyle fonts used for player numbers and names for most teams going back to 1972. This CD is intended for restorers who are looking for highly accurate (and machine readable, to drive a tackle twill cutting machine) patterns for obsolete fonts used on old double knit era uniforms.
